Atafeh is de tienerdochter van een welgestelde familie in Teheran. Zij en haar beste vriendin Shireen bezoeken nachtclubs, wonen illegale feestjes bij, dubben verboden Amerikaanse films, experimenteren af en toe een beetje met alcohol en drugs en zijn stiekem verliefd op elkaar. Na genezen te zijn van een verslaving blijkt Atafeh's broer Mehran plotseling erg fanatiek gelovig te zijn. Hij heeft contacten met de godsdienstige zedenpolitie, maar is tegelijkertijd ook geobsedeerd door Shireen. Dat leidt tot spanningen in de relatie met zijn zus Atafeh. Hun ouders Firouz en Azar halen herinneringen op aan de tijd vóór de islamitische revolutie en vragen zich af wat er van de jeugd is geworden...
